Strawberry Fields Forever
Recipes to make, share, and love this Earth Day.
At Well•Pict, we sort of celebrate Earth Day every day. Everything we do depends on fields and soil and weather and plants, so it’s only natural that we want to see this green-and-blue globe thriving, healthy, and not being taken for granted. We pride ourselves on being one of the early adopters in the produce industry for promoting recycling and energy conservation through our work. These days, our plastic clamshell packaging is 100% recyclable, and 50% of the power used in our manufacturing process comes directly from the sun. In other words, we make a concerted effort to ensure our berries are truly representing the best of what this beautiful planet can offer. Eating our strawberries and raspberries straight out of the package already provides our customers a treat that is healthy, delicious, and earth-friendly, but here are some other recipes that also leave a minimal carbon footprint on our Mother Earth. It’s just a bonus that they’re tasty, healthy, and easy to make too.
Well•Pict Ice-Pops
These puppies, in particular the dairy-free version with mint, are a healthy and satisfying replacement for those warm day ice cream cravings. Invest in some reusable bamboo sticks and make them over and over again, trying out different add-ins when you get bored of the mint. We like using basil sometimes, or dicing up kiwis and adding in a little carrot-orange juice for a whole new take. You can find the simple steps to make these on our recipe page.
Pretty Summer Strawberry-Cucumber Salad
This salad is so very simple and, with the bright pops of red against the cool, refreshing green tones in the cucumber, it’s also lovely to look at before you dig in. The earth is capable of some pretty beautiful color combinations! Get the recipe from Oh Sweet Basil here.
Strawberry, Tomato, and Fennel Gazpacho
Soup isn’t necessarily the first thing one thinks of when it comes to spring, but hear us out. This gazpacho recipe from Food and Wine is served chilled, and its few simple ingredients- primarily strawberries, tomatoes, and green peppers- will combine to make you feel energized and refreshed, but not weighed down or heavy. Give it a go for lunch and see for yourself!
Burrito Bowls with Raspberry Chipotle Sauce
This entrée from Connoisseurus Veg is just as filling as a meat-based one, with an awesome sweet/savory/spicy three punch combo that will trick your taste buds into thinking you’re not eating a totally healthy, plant-based meal. Haha, take that tastebuds!
