GEN Z IS RIPE FOR FRESH FRUIT
Gen Z is unlike any other age demographic that’s come before. Fully relishing the joy and spontaneity of early 20-something life, but, thanks to their information-gathering and research prowess as true digital natives, savvy beyond their years in the areas of nutrition, fitness, and overall health. So, while members of this generation—likely finishing up school or beginning new careers—may not have the time to cook up a gourmet meal every evening, they do prioritize a diet of quality, fresh food. In other words, those embarking on adulthood are no longer tossing packages of ramen into their carts alongside sweets and other convenience foods; this new crop of up-and-comers is forever on the lookout for foods that will take care of their bodies and have them operating at peak efficiency.
This group is much more likely to buy produce across a wide range of countries of origin and familiarity than their parents and grandparents. They are not limited by what they know, what they’ve tasted, or what they already know how to cook. And, additionally, this is definitely the smoothie-bowl generation. Fresh fruits and veggies reign supreme as ideal ingredients for quick and healthy meals, as well as serving as delicious between-meal snacks all on their own. The best way to reach this generation is (surprise, surprise) social media, and the best way to actually catch their attention is through bold imagery framing unique subject matter—remember, you’re competing with the rest of the known world (no pressure!).
