Keeping up with the crops: A Well•Pict Berries update
We caught up with Well•Pict Berries Director of Marketing Jim Grabowski for a quick update on our spring and summer berries. Here’s what we found out…
Oxnard, which is in production from October through May, is in full swing. Berry size is very large with an excellent color and flavor. Our peak time in Oxnard should be from mid-March through mid-April. In Santa Maria, we’ve been walking the fields and picking the cover crop; regular production will begin near the end of March. The Santa Maria fields are well-positioned to help supplement the Oxnard crops for our Easter pull. Our Watsonville farms will start production sometime in the middle of April.
Our thanks to Jim for that great update. Looks like we’re poised for another busy strawberry season full of ripe, robust, ruby beauties! You’ll want to make sure you have plenty of these delectable Well•Pict Berries strawberries in stock—shoppers will want their fridges and freezers full of our 100% recyclable clamshell packages for Easter and Mother’s Day.
