READY FOR SACK-TO-SCHOOL SEASON?
Sure, the fall season is on its way—bearing down on us like a pumpkin-spice-latte-bedecked freight train. But, you got this. You’re good to go. This isn’t your first back-to-school rodeo. Parents everywhere are already clocking every little thing that needs to be bought up, thought up, and prepped to create the almighty sack lunch. And we have no doubt that you, and they, are ready for action.
The most important thing to remember when it comes to brainstorming A+ sack lunch ideas is: nutritious and delicious do not have to equal complicated. One need look no further than our Well•Pict Berries recipe page for a treasure trove of quick, highly nutritious brown-bag all-stars. Here are a few of our favorites…
It isn’t our bias (we promise!) that makes us so excitable about berry-laden brown bags, it’s…well, science. Berries have both mood and immunity boosting properties, and with the addition of a protein and a vegetable (preferably green, but nothin’ wrong with those adorable baby carrots, either), you’ve got a simple, healthy meal that will keep your kiddo alert and agile enough to dart out of the way of the dreaded post-lunch slump. Curious about all the benefits berries bring our bodies (now say it ten times fast)? Check out our post that does a deep dive into the science of berry nutrition.
While the recipes above are delicious, there’s absolutely not one thing wrong with sending Well•Pict Berries to school in all their unadorned glory. For our delicious strawberries, give them a rinse and pack them whole in your sealable storage container of choice (something sturdy, not plastic baggies—I’m looking at you, Mom). Raspberries are quite delicate…arrange them in a single layer at the bottom of a storage container with a paper towel both under and over them, and please, whatever you do, don’t forget how insanely delicious raspberries are mushed up and spread on bread alongside a slather of peanut butter.
